Thursday-no sleep previous night, at which time I kept leaking stuff...eeew, gross! Dad dropped off new washing machine, *yea*, and Ian and I had just got done arranging the room for Lily that week. I called my mom to tell her about the mysterious leakage the night before, and she told me to go get that checked out as soon as possible. I called my OBGYN, and the nurse said to come in. After many trials for an hour circling the street the Duluth office and getting bad directions, we eventually went in for a checkup. They weren't sure if my water broke, but they said to go to Snellville to the Toxicologist for an ultrasound to check the amniotic fluid levels in ma tummy! Well, there was only 5cm of fluid left, I cried in fear for Lily, and...SURPRISE! You're going into labor!
"In the parking lot. I got the food!"
"I'm going into labor. We're having the baby."
"WHAT?!?!?!"
"That's what I said."
"WHAT?!?!?!?!"
"I'm trying to stay calm."
"I'm on my way."
Not sure how, but literally a minute later, he was there, and we were on our way across the street to Emory Eastside, Labor and Delivery. I scarfed a Jr. Bacon w/extra bacon, and sipped the most glorious Dr. Pepper I had had in ages, while Ian made some calls 5min. later, we were in a hospital room filling out stuff at 4:35pm exactly. (I remember because they had us date and time the papers,
They hooked me up to TONS of stuff:
-baby monitor
-contraction monitor thingy
-IV w/penicillin & glucose drip (yummy!)
-blood pressure cuff
Going to the bathroom in my paper, bare-booty gown was quite an ordeal, and I had to go every hour, on the hour. (And that's WITH restraint! >.<!! Barely felt contractions--just pressure and a little bit of lower-right-hand back pain, and was friggin' HUNGRY!!!! (They couldn't feed me.)
Friday-8am comes around, and my OBGYN doesn't think I'm leaking QUITE enough, so he breaks my water officially. OMG,
"What's happening?"
"We're breaking your water."
"IS SHE GONNA BE OKAY???"
"Yes, she's fine!"
"You sure?!"
"Yes, calm down."
"You freaking out?"
"WHAT?!"
"You freaking out?"
"Yes you are, because *blahblahblah...hysterics, more crying, blahblahblah*."
5cm dialated, they asked me if I wanted to have an epidural. I wanted to do a natural delivery, but I wanted to have the energy to push when the time came, because at this point, I hadn't slept in about 48hrs. They hooked me up, I fell asleep immediately, an hour and a half later I wake up 10cm dilated.
"We're gonna do a practice push, okay? K, breathe, push, STOP! She's crowning!"
"Wow, that was fast!"
OBGYN enters. "Oh, let me get my booties!"
(To OBGYN): "HURRY SHE"S CROWNING!"
(OBGYN): "You've got gloves."
Me: "WTF?!?!"
Well, 3 pushes later, no rippage, no pain, and a baby girl later, my mom cut the umbilical cord, and Ian took it like a champ! Lily was born at 3:35pm on August 7th, 2009. 7lbs, 1 oz., and 20in. long. Yaaaaaaaay!!!!
She's beautiful, healthy, and now weighs about 8lbs, and is about 21in. long!
She's hungry, so I've gotta end this journal. It's been fun!
...VROOOM, Chaio!
